	FOX HUNTING

TIGER HORSES ARE OUTDOOR ANIMALS. THEY LOVE THE TRAIL AND COMPANY OF OTHER HORSES. THEIR ANCESTORS WERE ONCE USED TO HUNT THE SIBERIAN TIGER. IT IS NO SURPRIZE THAT FOX HUNTING COMES QUITE NATURALLY TO THEM. THESE HEAVENLY HORSES ARE SUITABLE FOR MOST SPORTS INCLUDING DRESSAGE. SOME OF THEM ARE SHUFFLERS WHICH MEANS THEY EXHIBIT A VERY FAST BUT SMOOTH SITTING TROT.

Fox hunting started in the Virginias in the USA and found it's way to the UK where it continues to this day. We do not have any pesky foxes to hunt but the sport follows the same rules and dress code as this age old sport dictates. "Hounds" (never say "dogs") are very much a part of this sport and they look forward to their weekly exercise when the club meets during winter. Without the hounds, the sport would be boring and without the scent of cayote, the hounds would not hunt. This exhillarating winter sport breaks the monotony of the cold and makes winter go by very quickly for us. It is also a great social event.


	CAMPING 2003 ON THE TRAIL IN MONTANA AT THE CHIEF JOSEPH WEEK LONG RIDE. THAT YEAR 450 APPALOOSA SPOTTED HORSES PARTICIPATED WHICH INCLUDED 4 TIGER HORSES. Some Appaloosas are gaited, they would qualify for probationary registration with TIGRE, our Tiger Horse Breed Registry. Tiger Horses if gelded or neutered are in turn, eligible for "hardship registration" with ApHC. Only ApHC registered horses are permitted on the Chief Joseph Memorial Rides.

Member Drew Kesling on his mare Annandale's Tiger Lilly. The Keslings own 5 Annandale Tiger Horses and are keen endurance and competitive trail riding enthusiasts. Tiger Horses are holding their own against other more popular breeds and are a delight to ride because not only can they do everything 3-gaited horses do but they can perform a smooth riding 4-beat gait that leaves riders far less tired than others at the end of the day.
