BROOD MARES AT ANNANDALE'S TIGER HORSE FARM |
 |
(above right) Annandale's Carbon Copy
evolving into a spotted roan, January 2009. These mares are exotic Tiger Horse brood mares that we regularly ride on trails. They are the culmination of 15 years of concentrated breeding to bring back the Tiger Horse. Careful focus has been exercised to cement in the right phenotype, exotic color, and strongest, most perfect, middle gaits..
With the arrival of Heavenly's filly (updated photo below), it is clear we have achieved predictable phenotype (what the future breed looks like) this was only possible by concentrated
efforts over a period of years to cementing in the genotype (what is genetically predictable). The future profile of this breed is assured with all the desirable characteristics, provided we stay focused on our stated
goals. We are exceptionally proud of our 2008 filly and we expect she will grow to look just like her beautiful dam, Heavenly. In the foal photo below you can just make out the "tiger stripes" on this foals
foreleg. Not currently offered for sale the Tiger Horse examples on this page are to illustrate the direction the breed is headed. This type guarantees them to be a horse of a very different genetic group. Totally
unique and highly intelligent. Wouldn't you like to own Annandale stock? |

HOW WE CHOOSE OUR BREEDING STOCK We choose breeding stock for their ground covering trail riding stride, and people loving dispositions. Annandale's Heavenly
(named for extinct ancestors from the Heavenly Mountains district on the Chinese Siberian border), has been clocked at 17mph in casual gait. Heavenly has been bred to junior stallion Annandale's Avalanche for a 2009 foal. Annandale's Carbon Copy (the black bay mare top right) is even faster but not yet clocked.
Annandale mares are the elite of the Tiger Horse breed. Whether breeding or riding, we choose types that are suitable for a variety of activities from long hours in the saddle to working equally
hard on the ranch. Most of our horses after 15 years of experimental breeding are either Royalty registered (Tigre's permanent stud files) or probationary registered in
The Tiger Horse Breed Registry
Most Annandale horses today are at least second generation or more Tigers to Tiger breeding. Tiger Horses come in a variety of colors
including a variety of roans or non spotted horses. We recognize varnish roans and spotted roans, leopards and near leopards, Ghosts and Snowcaps and those with no spots at all, which are also a very important part of
TIGRE. |
